Domestic and International Arbitration and Mediation

Mr. Levit is the only Wisconsin-based Fellow of the College of Commercial Arbitrators. Admission is by invitation only and is limited to persons who "have had substantial experience, and demonstrated the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and competence, as an arbitrator in the field of commercial arbitration." By virtue of passing a qualifying examination, he is a Fellow (FCIArb.) and Chartered Arbitrator of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (London).

From 1984-1988, by appointment of the U.S. Department of State, he was a Substitute Arbitrator on the Iran-US Claims Tribunal (The Hague).

For many years he has been recognized in various publications including The Best Lawyers in America (Arbitration, International Arbitration, Mediation, Commercial Litigation and Intellectual Property Litigation); Chambers and Partners Directory of America's Leading Lawyers for Business (most recently in 2014 as Senior Statesman for Wisconsin Commercial Litigation); Who's Who in America; Who's Who in the Midwest; Who's Who in the World; and Who's Who in American Law.

Mr. Levit is an Elected Member of the American Law Institute. ALI's mission is to clarify, modernize and improve the law. Its members are lawyers, judges and law professors "of the highest qualifications."

By appointment of the Governor of Wisconsin in May 2003 and reappointment in 2009, Mr. Levit was until September 2015 the senior member of the 9 member Board of Trustees of the State of Wisconsin Investment Board ("SWIB"). SWIB is one of the 10 largest public pension plans in America with over $100 billion of assets under management.

By appointment of the Chief Justice of Wisconsin, he served from 2000-2006 as the first Chair of the Board of Administrative Oversight of the Office of Lawyer Regulation, which oversees lawyer discipline in Wisconsin.

In 2002-2003 Mr. Levit served as the President of the Seventh Circuit Bar Association, whose membership is comprised of Federal Judges and lawyers from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin who practice in the courts within the Circuit.
